The original hose cart for the Gypsum fire department. Hydrant pipe is on the right. The hose cart was used until 1941, when the town of Gypsum bought a 1929 American La France truck from Minturn. All four walls were blown outward and the building was in flames. Mr. Bonar's business loss was approximately $2,100; he carried $1,800 in insurance. The building was insured for $1,200. Residents and onlookers watching fire fighting efforts on March 21, 1963, as the Holy Cross Garage and adjoining house burn. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Owen had purchased the property from Mickey Walsh and had recently remodeled the residence. Sheriff Jim Seabry investigated the fire as a possible arson.
