Bailey School at Burns, Colorado. The log structure is above the "21" Ditch across from the T. Harry Benton home and west of the present Ben Wurtsmith home (formerly known as the Bailey Place). Barbara Clark, Eagle County teacher, with Daisy, the horse, at the Bar-Gay Ranch near Edwards, Colorado (at the mouth of Squaw Creek). Ring, the dog (previously owned by Tom Pearch), is standing next to Mrs. Clark. The Bar-Gay Ranch was originally the Hawley place. Gaylord and Barbara Clark bought the house and outbuildings; the land was a school section which they leased for 99 years.

The school was relocated to this building, which sat on the border between Eagle County and Pitkin County. Burns school in 1976 (abandoned). Mrs. L. K. Toomer was one of the last teachers. Freda Lowe was the last cook. c.1880: Log cabin used for a school house, Red Cliff, Colorado. There were 5 pupils who attended and Dora McMillan was the teacher. One door, one window shown in a front-view with snow on the ground.
