6) Broadway

Broadway in Eagle. The building on the right was built by the First National Bank of Eagle County. The two story half of the building was occupied by general merchandise stores (F. Hugus and Co.; later, the Lewis store); the one story side by the bank.
The line of wagons and carriages may be a parade.

1910-1920: Looking northeast, Broadway Street. Front of E. E. Glenn & Co. General Merchandise clearly visible; Post Office sign on side of building. People (dressed as if for special event) gathered in front of store with wagons and horses.
The bay windowed house to the right of the E. E. Glenn & Co. building was occupied by Alex Macdonell and family beginning in 1951. Mr. Macdonell was working for Holy Cross Electric out of Glenwood Springs...

Canon City and Cripple Creek Stage standing in front of the St. Cloud Office. Three teams of two horses are hitched to the stagecoach on which is sitting eight men. There are five men standing in front of the coach and one standing by the horses.

The Castle Peak Dairy delivery wagon making the rounds. There is a shaft bell on the wagon shaft, probably to let customers know the wagon was close. This particular wagon now resides in the Eagle County Historical Society Museum.

17) Early Gypsum

Early Gypsum where tents provided original services: hotel, stores, saloon, restaurant. Meals at the Eagle Hotel were 35 cents, a bed was 25 cents. All of these services were located across from the train depot. The location is close to present day Railroad Ave. and Second Street.

18) East of Avon

Horse drawn wagon with two passengers on road east of the entrance to Beaver Creek at Avon (Stone's Ranch). Stone's Ranch later became the Agriculture Experiment Station for the State College...State Farm. The road became U.S. Highway 6.
