4) Cabins

Caption reads "Cabins at Sweetwater Lake" although this may not match the actual location. (Leadville?) There are nine men in the photograph-- two are standing on either side of the main cabin at center with the door open. Both wagons are full.
5) Camp Tigiwon

47 "pilgrims," most on horseback, posing in front of the Camp Tigiwon post office. The Post office was established June 5, 1929 and discontinued September 30, 1942 [from Colorado Post Offices 1859-1989, by Bauer, Osment and Willard, 1990].

Hans Larsen can be seen in the background with the horses, wagon, and equipment to dig potatoes. Gladys and Teddy are pictured in the foreground (names from photograph). Teddy appears to be sitting on a full sack of potatoes and there are others scattered throughout the photograph.

15) Esther Mary Long

Marker for Esther Mary Long, "Beloved wife & mother 1917-1968," in Fairview Cemetery. Engraved on the stone are a cross, pine tree, mountain and riderless horse.

Fir bough shelters with tethering facilities for horses. Possibly used by road building crew or Mount of the Holy Cross pilgrims.
In 1927, Dr. Randall led Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls up Notch Mountain to see the cross, a trip considered to be the first "pilgrimage." In 1928, another pilgrimage took place and in 1929, President Hoover established the Mount of the Holy Cross Monument.

From caption, on the left is George Ziegler holding his hat on top of Babe the horse. Pink the horse is to the right of Babe with Edwin Reynolds at her side. The horses are attached to a wagon or cart of sorts and the wheel can be seen in teh background behind Ziegler. The two worked on the Borah ranch.
