Three miners stand in a tunnel of a gold mine in the Eagle River Canyon. It's possible this is the California Mine, which was located in the Eagle River Canyon. Their only source of light appears to be the candles they are holding.

The Red Cliff bus line was probably started away back, probably in the 1930s, by Mickey Walsh. He got hold of a big old sedan, probably a Cadillac or Pierce-Arrow, that 7 or 8 men could crowd into and started hauling miners to Gilman. I don't think it was much of a success as it kept breaking down....

Ethel Boies was born and rasied in Red Cliff, Colorado. In 1918, she married Howard G. Bayer, well-known in Minturn and Red Cliff through his involvement with many youth organizations. Ethel's typescript focuses on early days of Red Cliff and the surrounding areas of Eagle and Lake County (Leadville). Many mines, miners, mine benefactors, assay numbers, and mine locations are also mentioned.

The East Lake Milling and Mining Company was formed by doctors from Toledo, Ohio. The mine was worked several years, but very little ore was ever shippped. W. H. 14) Frenchy's Cabin

Cabin belonging to the Tetreault family of Red Cliff. This photo was taken on Oct. 26, 2010.
Frank "Frenchy" Tetrault was married to Agnes. They had a son, John, and a daughter, Sue.
"Both men were rather small, wiry guys and good workers. Frenchy worked for years as the haulage man for the town of Gilman; the company had a team of horses, a wagon and a sled and he hauled anything he was asked to. In later years, he lived at Bell's Camp and gouged...

Ida and Joe Trujillo celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Red Cliff. Joe worked for New Jersey Zinc Co. at Gilman for 46 years, 1930-1976. Ida was a cook in Vail. They had two children, Jerry Trujillo, Avon, and Donna Jean Duran, Thornton,Colorado.
