Elaudia Velasquez standing at 446 Eagle St., Red Cliff. Elaudia lived in Truchas, New Mexico. She married Procopio Velasquez November 26, 1949. The couple moved to Colorado and Procopio worked for many years as a miner for New Jersey Zinc at Gilman. He passed away in 2005.

The house was built in 1880-90's. It was moved from Keystone mines near Oak Creek in 1944 to the Leonard Horn Ranch. The house was sawed in half to get accross the frozen Colorado River at State Bridge in order to make the move. There is a barbed wire fence in the foreground and a rug airing on the porch rail.

"Howard and Mattie Van Horn and daughters came from Edwards about 1917 looking for a location. They bought part of the former Groh ranch from Hollis Brooks. This property adjoined the old D.O. "Kate Flynn Gill and Hazel Tracy Hawkins. Blanche [Tracy Kyes] said this picture was most likely taken at Paul and Hazel's house in Rifle. Paul was from Rifle and worked for the State Highway Department. Paul and Hazel met when Paul was working on the highway near Gypsum. Later Paul and Hazel moved to San Diego and Paul worked at Camp Pendleton. Kate and Hazel used to visit back and forth often. My Dad enjoyed the comics and from the picture...
