Ellis Bearden, in uniform, standing with his stepmother, Elizabeth Diamond Bearden. Ellis's mother, Maude Lewright Bearden, died in 1933, leaving three sons with husband Roland J. Beardon. Roland and Elizabeth were married in 1939.

1898: Frank Doll with horses brought from Ohio, standing in front of cabin at Dotsero. Frank and Lucy Doll with their children, Sam and Susan, spent the Fall and Winter of 1887 here. The one-room log cabin appears to be on a rock foundation with steps leading up to a small porch at the front door.

Gaylord A. Clark in 1931, approximately 27 years of age. The photo was submitted with applications for teaching positions. Mr. Clark taught elementary school in Burns (Derby Mesa School) and Minturn, in addition to being a rancher and mine worker at various points in time.

Guy Truman Barnes in Missouri at the age of 16. Chaps and pistol were optional. Mr. Barnes and his family homesteaded on Castle and Eby Creek. He was also herdsman for Andrew Christiansen who raised Hereford cattle.
In 1919, Guy Barnes filed for six-hundred forty acres of land under the Homestead Act. The land was approximately 5 miles from Castle Peak. He and his wife, Monica Heeren Barnes, lived in a cabin owned by Christiansen while bulding...
