8481) Minnie "Min" Borah

Minnie "Min" Borah sits atop a wagon full of wood logs. Two horses are hitched to the wagon. Minnie Borah was the wife of Jake Borah. She was born in 1871 and passed away in 1908, at the age of 37.

Stanley McHatton stands on the steps of the Eagle County High School in Gypsum. Taken in the 1910s. The caption states that Stanley McHatton was a professor at the school. This cannot be verified. Stanley attended the Eagle County High School through at least 1913.

This photograph, dated ca. 1886, was taken along the tracks of the Colorado Midland Railway where it passes through Hell Gate in Pitkin County. The photographer is identified as J.L. Clinton. In the canyon below is Ivanhoe Creek, which feeds into the Fryingpan River. The man holding onto the electrical pole is unidentified. The tracks in this area have since been removed and the path turned into Frying Pan Road.

This photograph was taken from a car on the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad sometime around 1899. The photographer is presumed to be Prof. Charles Peter Berkey. Professor Berkey was in Colorado as part of a school trip from the University of Minnesota. He came with mining students from that university to study the "practical science of mining."

This stereoscopic view of Gilman, Colorado was taken around 1895 by A. E. Dickerson. Gilman proper is off to the left of this image. With the main focus being on the cliffside south of the town. What are likely mining buildings can be seen in the top left corner of the image with what appears to be waste rock coming down the cliffside towards the tracks of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. The man in the center of image is unidentified.

In the cliffs above, you can see various structures and buildings that are no doubt related to mining activities in the area.

This stereoscopic view of Red Cliff, Colorado (facing southeast) was taken by William Henry Jackson some time in the late 1800s. It's likely this image is from before 1883, since the caption states that the image is of Red Cliff, Summit County, Colorado. Red Cliff was a part of Summit County for a few years before 1883. In 1883, Eagle County was formed and Red Cliff became the county seat.

Joy Marfitano (Dump Boltjes) on Senior Sneak Day 1938. She is standing at the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun in Colorado Springs. Spencer Penrose built the shrine between 1934 and 1937, dedicating it to Will Rogers who died in a plane crash in 1935. The elevation on the top deck in 8,136 ft. The shrine is now part of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
