Sarah Mabel Brown was born in Polk City Iowa July 14, 1877 and her family later moved to Chicago. She was the last Fulford school teacher 1909-1912. She went by Mabel S. Brown. She met surveyor/miner William (Billy) Colerick (1869-1944) in Fulford. She died Oct.1, 1964, age 87 in Los Angeles Ca. She would have been about 80 in the 1957 photo of Mabel's Madhouse.
Mabel bought and owned the Fulford cabin in her name alone (1927). The original 1893...

Formal portrait of Barclay Hockett. He was born July 19, 1813, at Wilmington, Ohio, and died at Gypsum, Colorado, on June 7, 1915. He was an early settler of Eagle County, arriving at Battle Mountain in 1882, and moving to Eagle a year later. He homesteaded near Gypsum.

There he married Lilly Cook in 1888. He came to Eagle County, driving stage and a freighting outfit between Leadville and Glenwood Springs. After the railroad arrived, he located at Dotsero. John Wesley Philips, Rhoda Rockwood's father, who was instrumental in building the Gore Creek School in 1886 (circa). Rhoda attended the school which met for only three months, in the summer. She crossed three creeks to get there. There is a dog at the right side of the photo.

The King and Queen of Pioneer Day at McCoy, June 16, 1974, Josephine Kayser Ruehle and Arthur Kayser. Josephine married Carl Ruehle in 1910 and moved to Casper, Wyoming, several years later. Arthur, the youngest of Joe Kayser's sons, was on the Kayser Ranch for only a few years before moving to Oak Creek, where he was employed by the town.

Ida Oyler Herwick, wife of Josiah Herwick. She became a member of Pacific Circle, Women of Woodcraft, Circle No. 132 at Eagle, Colorado, on Dec. 16, 1898.
