An unidentified individual drives a wagon full of rocks to the crusher at Holy Cross City. Holy Cross City was a short-lived mining camp located in what is today the Holy Cross Wilderness. A mining camp in the Holy Cross Mining District, Holy Cross City reached a population of 300 between 1881 and 1883. Looking northwest from a Bellyache viewpoint towards Eby Creek, the Eagle River is running through midfield. The road bridge is at center with the railroad bridge north of it. The railroad water tank is visible at the left. The Nogal-Ping hotel is on the corner of Capitol Streeth, the first lefthand turn up the hill. This is before Hwy 6 & 24 was built. In order to get to Wolcott further east, one had to cross the Eagle River here.
