"The Doan ranch was purchased from Mr. Doan by James P. Gates in about 1899. When J. P. Gates and Kate first moved to the Doan place, they lived in the small house to the left until the big house was built. 17) Bailey School

Bailey School at Burns, Colorado. The log structure is above the "21" Ditch across from the T. Harry Benton home and west of the present Ben Wurtsmith home (formerly known as the Bailey Place). Martha Gates was the teacher as well as Margaret Porter (nee Brooks). Martha is now Mrs. Garland Godbold (1986).
