Denver and Rio Grande Railroad engineer, George Bryant, and fireman C.W. Randall stand in front of engine 3601, following an accident near Mitchell. Engine 3601 is a type 2-8-8-2 locomotive. It wrecked in a ditch while going around a big curve near Mitchell. Ed Haskins, a Master Mechanic for the Railroad, worked hard to prop the engine up on wooden logs to prevent it from falling over onto the main line.

Mangan, fireman, was killed this morning in a wreck one and one half miles Wiest of Salida. Casper Schumm stands outside the Travelers' Hotel in Gypsum around 1913. Located at 318 First Street, the Travelers' Hotel was built around 1905 of L. C. Packard. By 1913, it was in the hands of Mr. Staup. August Ulin would take ownership of the hotel in the 1920s, and renamed it the Ulin Hotel. Alda Borah boarded at the hotel her freshmen year of high school while attending the Eagle County High School.

The Traveler's Hotel at 318 First Street was built in about 1905 by L. C. Packard. By 1913, it was in the hands of a Mr. Staup. In the 1920s, August Ulin was the owner and it was renamed the Ulin Hotel. It had a good location being a short distance from the train station.
