41) Harold Stokes

Harold "Lefty" Stokes, July 1966. Mr. Stokes worked on the Homestake Dam project, along with Harry Snyder (Whitey), Kelly Bissell, Sy Piedmont (Project Manager), Chuck Kincaid, Van Wiley (Safety), Harry Lentz, Jack Trepto, Buster Beck (Drill & Powder Foreman). The work crews lived in trailer homes at Pando.

The Gold Park Mill building, taken in the 1890s. Along with Holy Cross City, Gold Park was a small mining camp located in what is today the Holy Cross Wilderness.

A close-up shot of the ranger station at Yeoman Park in Holy Cross National Forest in 1935. Ranger stations and roads including these were built as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps program during the Great Depression. Foundations of the buildings are still visible today.

The Yeoman Park Ranger Station (Eagle Ranger District) on East Brush Creek, Colorado. Barn and implement shed are along drive before station. An automobile is parked by the central building.
A Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp was situated near the station. The foundations are visible today. The campground is convenient to the Holy Cross Wilderness, the old mining town of Fulford, and Fulford Cave.

The bay windowed house to the right of the E. E. Glenn & Co. building was occupied by Alex Macdonell and family beginning in 1951. Mr. Macdonell was working for Holy Cross Electric out of Glenwood Springs...

The lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Gypsum, after a December 15,1990, late night fire. According to Fire Chief, Dave Vroman, the blaze was traced to a furnace recently installed. First Lutheran Church of Gypsum and Mount of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Vail took over ownership of the structure in 1989. Members were remodeling the structure to convert it into a parish hall.
