SECOND ACCIDENT VICTIM DIED DECEMBER 3
James Murphey, 16, of Gilman, died Tuesday morning in the Leadville hospital from injuries received in an accident near Minturn four days before. His death cams a day after the .burial of Richard Jones, who died, at the scene of the accident a 'half mile east of Dowd on U. 'S. Highway 24. Each l>oy was the only child in their families —Mr. and- Mrs Frank Jones of Minturn and Mr. and Mrs James Murphey of Gilman. Richard was bom May 14, 194.5 and moved with his parents to Minturn as an infant. He graduated from Battle Mountain High School in Red Cliff last spring and was a freshman at Mesa College in Grand J auction. A funeral service was conducted December 2 in the Presbyterian Church at Minturn by Reverend. Larry Jones. Interment was in the Minturn cemetery, with boyhood friends acting as pallbearers: Mallory Nottingham, Manuel Montoya, Mike Moore, Howard and Victor Pierson and Kit Orlosky. Richard, is survived, by his .parants, Frank and Elizabeth Jones; maternal grandparents, Mr and. Mrs
Clarence Fitzhugh of Chromo and his paternal grandmother, Mrs Amy Jones of Sanford. A memorial fund has - been started. and persons desiring to contribute may do so at the Minturn Drug Store, Requiem High Mass for Jones will he celebrated Friday at 10:30 a. m. at St. Patrick’s church in Min turn.
