Frank Kistler dies in GS Tuesday afternoon , Nov . 15
Frank Kistler , well-know western oil pioneer and former owner of Glenwoods Colorado Hotel and Hot Springs Pool died at Gienwood Springs Valley View Hospital Tuesday , November 15 . Death came at approximately 1 PM . Kistler suffer
ed a mild stroke last weekend and was hospitalized . He was thought to be recovering from
the initial stroke when death came . Born in Greensboro , North
Carolina 78 years ago , Kistler gravitated to the West where he entered the oil business . In 1912 he moved to Sinclair , Wyo . In Wyoming he helped create the Producers and Refiners Corporation , which did much to develop the town of Sinclair . He was president of this firm when it merged with Prairie Oil and Gas . Both later merged with Sinclair Oil . In 1938 Kistler purchased the Colorado Hotel and Hot Springs Lodge and Pool and moved to
Gienwood Springs . During World War II he leased the hotel and pool complex to the Navy for a convalescence center . In 1946 he sold the hotel and in 1947 he sold the pool and lodge . After selling the pool Kistler purchased the Redstone Inn , Lodge and ranch . In January , 1960 , he sold part interest in his Redstone properties to a group from Texas , but remained as Board Chairman of the corporation . Twice married , Kistler * as di
vorced in 1928 from Florence Hughes Kistler . They had four children . In 1929 he married Mrs . Leana Antonides . He is survived by three children by his first marriage , Mrs . Francis Parf et , Gienwood Springs ; Mrs . Julia K . Cole , West Hartford , Conn . ; and Mrs . Florence K . Snyder , Stamford , Conn . His second wife and two stepchildren , William O . Antonides , Aspen and Ralph L . Antonides Redstone , also survive .
