Weldon "Paul" Lane of New Castle died July 14. He was 58. Lane was born the son of Ralph and Martha Lane on April 22, 1933 in Eagle. He married Marlene M. Hall on September 7, 1968 in Las Vegas. Paul and Marlene moved from CA to Glenwood Springs in 1969, then to New Castle in 1971. He worked for the City of Glenwood Springs for 17 years as a heavy duty equipment operator. He received a 15-year service pin from teh city for his loyal world. Mr. Lane attended the First Baptist Church in New Castle. He enjoyed working with model trains, loved to read, enjoyed fishing and hunting, camping and the outdoors. He was very gracious with his time and performed a variety of odd jobs for the elderly. He bowled in Muscular Dystrophy fundraiser and was involved in assisting his wife with Girl Scout activities. He was also very supportive of his children and their 4H Club activities. Survivors include hi wife, Marlene Hall Lane of New Castle; son James and his wife Jane Lane of Rifle; daughter April Lane of Greeley; three brothers, Ralph of Montana, Dick of Grand Junction and Larry of Oregon; three sisters, Phyllis Strohn of Rifle, Donna Wink of New Mexico; Norma Kennedy of WA. Interment was at the Highland Cemetery in New Castle with military rights by the American Legion Post of Glenwood Springs.
