Eagle Valley Enterprise - April 25, 1963

John Rex MAYNE was born Mar. 26, 1910 at Alpine, Utah, and died in Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colo., April 18 following a three-day illness.
Mr. MAYNE spent his childhood in Alpine and American Fork, Utah, and was a resident of Gypsum for the past 23 years.
On May 3, 1929, Rex MAYNE and Miss Erma May RAWLINGS were married in Provo, Utah.
He was a prominent rancher in the Gypsum Valley at the time of his death and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served on the School Board in District 16, for 18 years and held the office of president of that board.
Mr. MAYNE also belonged to the Soil Conservation District, Farm Bureau and Colorado Cattlemen's Association. He had served as second counselor of Glenwood Springs Branch of LDS Church.
Surviving are his widow of Gypsum; and two sons: George Lloyd Mayne of Gypsum and Jack, who is serving a mission in the southern states.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Josephine Beck MAYNE of American Fork, Utah; six brothers: Roy, Virl, and Evan of Gypsum; Delmar of Avon; Steven of Grants, N. Mex.; and Jay of American Fork and three sisters: Mrs. Erma OLESEN, Orem, Utah; Mrs. Lucille WEIGEL, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Lyle PETERSEN, American Fork.
Two grandchildren, Gerald Rex MAYNE and Lynette Kae MAYNE of Gypsum also survive.
Services were held in the LDS Church in Glenwood April 22 by Bishop Henry PALMER and President Elmer BAIR. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

GYPSUM.
Funeral services were held in the Glenwood LDS Church for Rex MAYNE, long time resident of Eagle Valley who died in the Glenwood hospital following a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Erma, two sons; two grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters and his mother. All of his brothers and sisters and his mother were here for the funeral.

Marine and Mrs. Jerry MAYNE arrived home from San Diego last weekend. They are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John BERTROCH, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virl MAYNE. They attended the funeral of Jerry's uncle, Rex MAYNE.
