DEATH CALLS AN OLD TIME CITIZEN SUDDENLY
JOE MILLER PASSED AWAY AT MIDDAY—DEATH CAME TO HIM SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING Tuesday , right after noon , the community was shocked at the news that Joe Miller had been found dead on the lawn at the Harry Dickerson home in Eagle . The body was discovered shortly after one o clock by Jesse Thomas. Mr . Thomas was going to his work at the Community house after lunch , when he noticed the body lying on 1 the lawn and on investigating found it to be that of Mr . Miller . Life was extinct when the body was found , tho j still warm . Sheriff Wilson was no-i tified and Dr . Bryaon called , but there 1 • was no aid that could be given to him , as life had entirely passed . Uj ¦ was very apparent that a severe hemorhage had been the Immediate cause of death . During Mr . and Mrs . Dickeraon fj ab . sence In the east this spring , Mr . Miliar hosd been caring for the lawn about the home . He had , apparently , just started to mow the lawn when he was seized with the fatal sickness .

many years ago . I Joe Miller was a native of Switzerland , of German parentage , but had lived moat of his 61 years in this country and in Colorado . He was onof the pioneer miners of the Bate tls mountain district , living first at Red Cliff and then at Gilman . He was an expert miner and followed that business until his health warned him to quit the game , which he did tmt not untl tbe disease which caused his death had got Its hold on him . Two years ago , together with his old pal , Gus Reed , he retired to Frulta to live on a farm . But when Reed died a few months ago , Mr . Miller Jiad no heart for the business of farming and returned to Eagle county this spring , locating in Eagle only a few weeks ago . There was no better citizen or neighbor than Joe Miller , and many an old-timer in the countv will shed a tear ot regret when he learns of his death . Mr . Miller is survived by two daughters , one living LeadvJlle , and the other In Chicago . Both are married . The funeral services will be held at Red Cliff at 2 : 30 o clock Sunday afternoon . o Choose a bright , warm , sllnny day for washing blankets . Use lugewarm washing and ringing water and mitral suds , ut the blanket through a loosely set wringer , and hang it out to dry with a quarter or half over tho line . Fiom time to time squeeze the excess water from the corners .
