Lauretta Carr was born to Hervey and Eldora Van Horn at Little Falls, NY May 9, 1880, one of 12 children. She died at her Gypsum home June 2, 1955 after a short illness. At the age of 6, she came to eastern Colorado with her parents, and five years later to Dotsero west of Gypsum. December 25, 1899 she married Claude C. Carr and to this union were born three daughters. Mr. Carr died in 1918 during the flu epidemic. She is survived her her three daughters, Violet Orr and Ora Gerard of Gypsum and Nannie Hoyt of Bond; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Addie Irvine of Cisco, TX and two brothers, Frank of Gypsum and John Van Horn of Phoenix, AZ. Funeral services were directed by Burdge Mortuary of Glenwood and conducted at the Methodist CHurch in Gypsum Sunday afternoon. Rev. Byron Hasstedt officiated. Mrs. Margaret Davenport and Mrs. Wayne Haggart sang two duets, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Beasley Collett at the piano. Pallbearers were Art Stremme, Ed Hendrickson, Vic Hendrickson, Herman Erickson, Clarence Lewis, and Ralph Hoyt. Interment was in Cedar Hill cemetery.
