Woods Memorial Service

A memorial service for former Eagle resident Roberta Woods will be held Saturday, May 14th at 2 p.m. in Grand Junction.

The service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road.

Her husband, Emil and children invite any family friends to attend.

Graveside services for former Eagle resident Roberta Jane Woods will be held Friday, April 1 at 1 p.m. in Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.

Woods, 74, died March 28 in Grand Junction after a courageous battle with pneumonia.

She was born to John and Fairy May (Koenig) Hieber on Jan. 6, 1931 at Sterling, Colo. and was the youngest of four sisters. She attended school in Greeley, graduating in 1948.

On July 9, 1949 she married Emil E. Woods in Greeley. They enjoyed 55 wonderful years together, living in Steamboat Springs, Trinidad, Eagle, and Grand Junction.

She worked as a deputy assessor for Eagle County, retiring in 1989. Woods was a devoted fan of the Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Rockies. She was a loyal member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was past Matron of Eagle OES Chapter No. 86, as well as of the Trinidad Chapter. She served as grand officer for the Grand Chapter of Colorado OES in 1974-75, serving as Grand Esther.

Woods was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Trinidad.

Survivors include her husband, Emil; son Edward and daughter-in-law Linda of Merriam, Kan.; daughters Colleen Woods of Grand Junction, Elaine and son-in-law Wendell Cheek of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by her sisteres, Lucille Cassidy of Grass Valley, Calif., and Ruth Irons of Mill Creek, Wash.; grandson Christopher Woods and his wife, Nikki, of Independence, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy; and a son, Kenton.

The family wishes to gratefully thank Dr. William Kelly and Dr. Mike Pramenko for their excellent care of Roberta.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Grand Junction.
