Body of Aged Man
Found in Eagle River

Was resident of Garfield County -
Had Been Dead About Two Weeks

The body of a 74-year-old man was found in the Eagle river about one mile below the Cross creek bridge south of Minturn last Sunday morning. The body was first seen and reported by Henry Albers of Minturn.

Papers found in the man's coat near the bridge, where he probably fell into the stream, established his identity as John Young, a Rifle man. Garfield county authorities were notified, and through them it was learned that the man had no known relatives. He had been a resident of that county since 1908, and was an old age pensioner. He originally came from Lanno, Tex.

Bill Jenkins of Eagle and a commuter to the mine at Gilman, identified the man as one he had seen near the spot on July 9. Through this information, County Coroner Paul Andree establsihed his death as having occurred about two weeks ago.

The body was taken to Rifle on Tuesday for burial there.,
