Alice B. Allred, formerly of Grand Junction, died Friday Oct. 14, 2005 at Pikes Peak Care Center in Colorado Springs. She was 90 years old. Alice had been a Grand Junction resident for more than 50 years.

Alice was born on April 27, 1915 in Basalt, to Laurent and Mary Arbaney Sr. They were one of many pioneering families of Basalt and the Aspen Valley that emigrated from the Aosta Valley in Northern Italy in the late 1800s.

Alice graduated from Basalt Union High School in 1933. During World War II, she was a telephone operator and trainer. Alice married Bert P. Allred on April 28, 1945 in San Francisco. After World War II, they settled in Grand Junction and co-founded B&B Electric. During the '70s, she was the admission sdireector at Grand Junction Osteopathic Hospital, which is now Community Hopsital.

Survivors include sons Ronald D. (Joyce) Allred of Telluride and Maui, Hawaii; and William D. Allred of Grand Junction; daughter Sandy (Larry D.) Goad of Monument; sister Eva Gerbaz of Gerbazdale (Watson); sister-in-law "Toots" Beulah Arbaney of Basalt; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Alice is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Pat (Arbaney) and Lonnie Mayhugh and Dick and Judy Arbaney, all of Grand Junction; Judy (Arbaney) and Wyland Kittle, of Basalt; Delores (Gerbaz) Stutsman of Basalt; Doug and Seika Gerbaz of Aiea, Hawaii; Jerry and Judy Gerbaz of Gerbazdale; and Kevin and Lois Arbaney, of Parachute.

An infant daughter, her husband Bert, one grandson, three brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.

There will be graveside service at 11:30 am at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand Junction. Martin Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
