Albertson services set for Sunday Charles Phillips "Chuck" Albertson died on Maondy. Albertson was born July 13, 1931, to Joe and Ruth (Gates) Albertson in Glenwood Springs. He grew up on a ranch in Burns, attended the Bailey School and graduated from Eagle County High School in 1949. He married Betty Lou Bobson on Sept. 16, 1950, in the Lutheran Church of Gypsum. Charles Albertson, a lifetime rancher, served in Korea in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and 1952, moving to the Gypsum Valley in 1953. He recently spent his winters in Arizona. In addition to his love of the land and wildlife, he enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, hunting and traveling. Albertson was a member of the Eagle County and Colorado Cattlemen's Associations, as well as Colorado, Wyoming and National Polled Hereford Associations. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou, and father and stepmother Joe and Marie Albertson of Grand Junction, his brothers Frank (JoAnn) Albertson of Fruita, and Verne (Susan) Albertson of Burns, and his six children: Kevin (Rosie) of North Platte, Neb., Karen (Sumner) Schlegel of Moorcroft, Wyoming, Kathy (Jim) Toomer of Gypsum, Kristi (Kevin) Rosten of Colorado Springs, Karla of Arvada, Ken (Sheila) of Lafayette, and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, and infant son Rodney. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gypsum at 3 p.m. Sunday, followed by interment at the Gypsum Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Gypsum or a charity of your choice.
