Flaven J. Cerise passed away on August 21 in Grand Junction, Colorado. he was 84. Cerise was born on May 15, 1921 in Woody Creek, Colorado to Victor and Anselmine Cerise. he attended Carbondale schools while growing up. The then joined the army and was in the Signal Corps, operating the first mainland-based radar station in FL. Fleaven met his wife, Wilma LaForce in 1942. They married and had three children but were later divorced. Flaven was a longtime cattle rancher in the Roaring Fork Valley and served as a Garfield County Commissioner for 12 years. he was active in the community during his life, serving on the Energy Committee for Colorado Counties, the national Association of Counties and Club 20. After leaving Carbondale, he spent a few years in AZ and then made his final home in Grand Junction. his daughter, Bee Stevens; two sons, John K and Stuart Cerise and their spouses; along with 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchilden survive him.
