Nona Ruth Albertson was born September 23, 1900 at Eagle, Colo., to Bert and Nona Gates, the second of nine children. She passed away May 5, 1967, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colo.
The Gates family moved from Breckenridge, Colo. to the Gore Range, near the head of Rock Creek, where they operated a "way station" for the stage coaches that ran from Kremmling to the Yampa Valley, before moving to Derby Mesa at Burns.
Ruth attended elementary school near Burns and finished her education at the Opportunity School in Denver. She taught school two years each at Sloss, Colo. near Basalt and at the Catamount School near Burns.
She was married to Joe Albertson, who survives, June 26, 1930 in Glenwood Springs and spent the rest of her life in Burns.
To this union were born three sons: Charles Phillip of Gypsum, Frank Orris of Roosevelt and Verne Elgin of Glenwood, all of whom survive.
She is also survived by three brothers: James Gates of Albuquerque, N.M.; Frank of Burns and Lemley of Phoenix; and four sisters, Mrs. Don Wurtsmith and Mrs. Orris Albertson of Burns; Mrs. Charles Younger of Grand Junction and Mrs. Edith Grove of Seattle, Wash; 11 grandchildren and 31 nieces and nephews.
Her parents; a brother, Albert Gates and a grandson, Rodney Keith Albertson preceded her in death.
Rev. Frncis Ricker conducted the funeral service May 8 at Gypsum Methodist church and burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum. Mrs. Ted Luark and Mrs. Ricker sang two duets accompanied by organist Mrs. Glen Chambers,
Pallbearers were Jim Stephens, Joe Chockie, Paul Orgish, John Benton, Pat Bratton and Harlen Beck.

Mrs. Joe Albertson Buried Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Albertson were held at the Methodist Church in Gypsum Monday. Mrs. Albertson died in the Valley View Hospital, Glenwood, May 5, after a long illness.
Mrs. Gates was 66 years old.
She is survived by her husband, Joe of Burns; and three sons: Verne of Glenwood; Chas. of Gypsum and Frank of Utah.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gates.
