ETHEL H. CHAMBERS.
Memorial services for Ethel H. CHAMBERS, longtime resident of the Eagle area, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Eagle Community United Methodist Church.
Mrs. CHAMBERS died Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale, at the age of 82.
She was born Dec. 16, 1906, at Paonia, Colo., the daughter of Joseph and Jennnie SWANN. She attended schools in Paonia and Montrose, and graduated from Montrose High School in 1925.
She was married June 19, 1927, in Paonia to Joseph E. CHAMBERS. The couple lived in Paonia until moving to the Eagle area in the mid-1930s. They ranched in the Eagle and Gypsum Creek valleys until 1950, when they moved to Phoenix, Ariz.
They ranched in the Phoenix area until returning to Eagle in 1953. At that time Mr. CHAMBERS returned to the logging and sawmill business, a trade he had learned from his father. They lived near Sylvan Lake on West Brush Creek and in Eagle.
Mrs. CHAMBERS helped and supported her husband in his business until he sold the firm and accepted a position with Western Slope Lumber Company. He worked for the lumber company and Kaibab industries until he retired in 1971.
The couple then sold their property in Eagle and moved to Paonia, where Mr. CHAMBERS died in April of 1972.The following year Mrs. CHAMBERS moved to Aurora to live with her daughter and family, and then returned with them in June of 1973 to live in Eagle.
Although not always in the best of health, Mrs. CHAMBERS enjoyed her family, her friends, the Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. CHAMBERS lived most of the remainder of her life in Eagle, until entering the care center in Carbondale in December of 1988.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Maxine HUDSPETH, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Jody CARUTHERS; three grandchildren, Tammy Hudspeth STANLEY of Colorado Springs, Suzette Caruthers SCHLUND of Lakewood, and Celeste Caruthers HAUSER of Eagle; and four great-grandchildren, Robert STANLEY, Andrew STANLEY, Amy SCHLUND and Randal SCHLUND.
Burial rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia.
The Rev. Melanie DOWNS will officiate at Saturday afternoon's memorial service in Eagle. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Heart Association or the Eagle Community United Methodist Church.

CORRECTION.
In its Feb.16 edition, The Eagle Valley Enterprise incorrectly identified members of he late Ethel H. CHAMBERS' family.
One of her grandchildren is Tammy Hudspeth STAHLY and two of her great-grandchildren are Robert STAHLY and Andrew STAHLY, not Stanley as appeared in the newspaper.
The Enterprise regrets the error.
