Ina R. CHAMBERS, 93, of Montrose, died June 24 at the Evergreen Care Center in Montrose following a long illness.
Born Ina ROATCAP in Rich Hill, Mo., on March 9,1889, CHAMBERS spent her early childhood in Paonia where she received her formal education. She married Elijah C. CHAMBERS there on Dec. 24, 1905. Mr. CHAMBERS died in October of 1930.
Mrs. CHAMBERS lived in Rich Hill until 1891 when she moved to Paonia. She resided for several years in Paonia before moving to Littleton and then Eagle. She later moved back to Paonia until moving to Montrose in 1978.
A pioneer woman, Ina and her husband "Lige" homesteaded at Steven's Gulch near Paonia in 1920.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church there as well as the United Methodist Church Women's Club.
Chambers is survived by one son, Glen CHAMBERS, a resident of Arizona who summers in Eagle; one sister, Mrs. Constance HALEY of Paonia; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons.
Graveside services were held last week in the Littleton Cemetery with Rev. Glen HAMLYN officiating. Friends may make contributions to the Eagle Community United Methodist Church building fund.
Funeral arrangements were by the Taylor Funeral service.
