We regret to inform you of the unfortunate passing of Alex Baldo, who passed way on Saturday in Grand Junction.

Complications from liver and kidney failure ultimately led to Alex's demise. He had been admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, but his final day was spent in hospice at the Hospice Care Center. When he passed, he was in the company of his wife, Mary, his daughter Andrea and son Bruce.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; son Bruce; daughter Andrea; and grandchildren Marc, Kent, Katharine and Emma.

Alex was predeceased by his son, Marc. His sister, Lilia, lives in New York City.

Alex proudly served in the Navy from 1942 to1946 as a submariner aboard the SS 345 Cochino. After his discharge, he enrolled in the Missouri School of Mines and graduated three years later as a mining engineer, a title he held for 53 years.

As per his request and in keeping with his character, Alex's remains were donated for scientific research. He will be cremated upon completion of the research. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.

The family thanks you for all prayers and acts of kindness in this, their time of sorrow.
