SERVICES HELD FOR BLANCHE E. BARZ.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Glenwood Springs for Blanche Eliza BARZ. Mrs. BARZ, 93, died at Valley View Hospital following a six day illness.
She had been a resident of Glenwood Springs for 20 years.
She was born Blanche Eliza McKAY in Tulare County, California on April 17, 1880. Her early childhood was spent in Big Piney, Wyoming and Schuyler, Nebraska. In June 1898, she moved to DeBeque with her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
She married Herman R. BARZ on July 7, 1908, and they ranched up McKay Fork and around DeBeque until moving to the Minturn and Camp Hale area during World War II. When Camp Hale began to close down, they moved to Glenwood Springs in October, 1945. Mrs. Barz has resided in Glenwood since that time except for an eight year period in the 1950's when she lived with her two sisters in Glendale, Calif.
Her husband died on July 17, 1946.
Mrs. BARZ is survived by four sons, Donald H. and Maurice D. of Glenwood Springs, Richard M. of Albuquerque, and Maxwell R. of Gypsum, seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Holmes at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Rosebud Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don A. NEILL, Richard BURRY, Raymond H. BUTTS, Stanley McKAY, E. L. "Bud" DUPLICE, and WIlliam G. MANGNALL.
Honorary pallbearers were Ben SNOOK, Ray LONG, Elmer GOODWIN, B. H. KENTON, Peter TONSO, Kenneth BAILEY, Roy FULBRIGHT and Charles CLUBB, members of the Golden Age Senior Citizen's Club.
