Death came suddenly to a former Minturn resident on July 17, when Herman BARZ died very suddenly of a heart attack in a bath house in Glenwood Springs.
Mr. BARZ and his wife had gone to the bath house Wednesday afternoon, and when Mr. BARZ didn't appear after a length of time, his wife investigated and found her husband dead in the bath.
The family lived in Minturn, moving there in 1941 from their ranch at DeBeque. At that time they were engaged in the mercantile business in Minturn, and later moved to Pando for a time. Since October, Mr. BARZ has been living in Glenwood Springs.
He was born at Chipewa Falls, Wis., in 1875. As a child he moved to Denver with his parents. He had resided on his ranch near DeBeque for many years before moving to Eagle county. Surviving are his widow, Blanche, four sons, Max of Minturn, Don of Glenwood Springs; Richard of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Maurice, who with his Swiss bride are at sea headed for the United States; a sister, Blanche SCHULTZ, and a brother, Harry, as well as six grandchildren are also left.
Funeral services were held in Glenwood Springs Sunday, July 21, with Rev Henry BAKER of the Glenwood Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood cemetery.
