Longtime Vail Valley resident, Richard Allen, passed away on Aug. 3 in Hermosa Beach, Calif. He was 63.
Rich originally visited Vail in the winter of 1976 and was “just passing through,” but didn’t leave until 1999. He took part in much of what the valley had to offer ” he was a member and official in several area sports leagues and volunteered for many local organizations. He also was a regular at many of the valley’s restaurants and taverns.
Rich was a great father, a loving son, and a wonderful friend. He is survived by his mother, Anne Crane, 93; his wife, Allison (Howe), also a former resident of Vail; his son, Jamie; and granddaughters Gracie and Jessie.
There will be a memorial service for Rich on Saturday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at E-Town in Edwards. All friends of Rich’s are welcome to come and share memories of him with his family and friends.
