A memorial service for former McCoy resident Ferdinand William AMBOS will be held at the Farnum-Richardson Chapel in Glenwood Springs at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13. The Rev. Lonnie EAKLE will officiate.
AMBOS, 88, a resident of Glenwood Springs, died Jan. 1 at Valley View Hospital.
He was born Aug. 12, 1889 at Council Bluffs, Iowa, and had been a resident of Glenwood Springs since 1975. AMBOS had been a resident of Butte, Mont., Golden, Colo., McCoy, Colo., and Denver.
He retired as a civil engineer in 1954.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1909 to 1913 and again during World War II.
AMBOS received his civil engineering degree through a correspondence course and worked on the Dotsero cut-off with BPR from 1938 to 1954. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Survivors include a brother, John AMBOS of Glenwood Springs; two nephews, John F. AMBOS of New Jersey and Robert G. AMBOS of Massachusetts; seven great-nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Maude AMBOS.
One brother, Leonard, preceded him in death in 1962.
