Hester Marie (Toots) BERTROCH was born July 7, 1923 to Thane and Lula (CRAVENS) ROBERTSON at Grand Valley, Colorado. She moved with her family to Eagle in 1928, where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Clair (Bert) BERTROCH on September 19, 1944 in Ogden, Utah. They lived in Brigham City, Utah and Colorado Springs before returning to Eagle.
Hester worked at Stanley's Grocery in Eagle and Eagle County Public Health until retirement in 1977. Hester and Clair moved to Grand Junction in 1979, where she lived until her death. She enjoyed camping and fishing, cooking and baking, and loved the mountains.
Her parents, six sisters, and four brothers are deceased. Hester is survived by her husband Clair; sister Ida CLARDY of Hanford, CA; brother Johnnie ROBERTSON of Eagle; twin sons Jessie (Cindy) and Les (Nancy) BERTROCH all of Grand Junction; grandchildren Chris GUTHEIL, Emily GUTHEIL, Amber YOUNG, and Tyler BERTROCH, along with several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service Friday, October 13, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Palisade Cemetery in Palisade, Colorado with the Rev. Eddie SCROGGINS officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Grand Valley Hospice, PO Box 60307, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
