Charles P. "Tod" Anderson, a former Vail town councilman and president of the Vail Rotary Club, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at a hospital in North Carolina. He was 80.

In 1968, Anderson and his wife moved to Vail, where he served on the Vail Town Council. In 1972, they moved to Colorado Springs, where Anderson was involved with the Colorado Springs Symphony and teh Broadmoor Community Church. For health reasons, he and his wife moved to Stuart, Fla., in 1985.

Anderson was born in Saginaw, Mich., and graduated from Northwestern University. He married the format Mary Ruth Harlow of Midland, Mich. They were married for 50 years.

Anderson worked for the Dow Chemical Company of Midland for 20 years.

FOllowing his wife's death, Anderson married Jean Wooten in 1995. They remained active in the community in Stuart and shared a second home in Waynesville, N.C.

Anderson is survived by his wife; sister, Alison Moore of Colorado Springs; son, Todger Anderson of Denver; two daughters, Mary Janet Stenger of State College, Pa., and Fran Shields of Colorado Springs; two stepchildren, Brenda Bumgarner and Kent Culhan; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held after the first of the year in Stuart. Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
