Jake Brock of Eagle was killed in a car accident Friday, March 23. His girlfriend, Jennifer Kois, also died in the crash.
Brock was born to Vern and Marilyn Brock on Nov. 23, 1987 in Arvada.
He loved the color red, and he embraced being a red-head (white brows as well). Family and friends called him Jake the Snake, Jaker Shaker, Red Speed, Carrot Top, Roho, No Brow, Fire, and Whitie.
He graduated in 2006 from Eagle Valley High School (with a cooler of Mountain Dew under his chair) and was a student at Mesa State College. He loved his family, his friends, and having an awesome time whether it be soccer, hockey, track, snowboarding, or just "hanging out". He will be greatly missed for his "go get it" nature.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn, his dad Vern, his special sister, Kathryn, and his big little brother Weston. Other survivors include his grandparents Kathryn Hubbard and Vern and Nola Brock; and aunts and uncles and their families, Russell and Elaine Hubbard, Carmen and Herb Jostes; Trish and John Petty; Janie and Ray Reed; David and Jane Hubbard; Jeanne Hubbard; Alan and Mary Brock; Morgan and Noreen Lee; Brian and Sheryl Brock, and 24 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather George Hubbard, great-grandmother Marian Brock, great-grandfather Frank Brock, great uncle Bob Brock, and three cousins.
A funeral mass was held on Tuesday at Eagle Valley High School auditorium. Graveside services followed at Eagle's Sunset View Cemetery.
Friends of Jake Brock have established a fund for the Jack Brock Memorial Award, to be handed out annually to a deserving athlete from Eagle Valley High School.
