Ralph Lauder "Tony" Antonides died March 2 at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 66.
A lifetime resident of Colorado, Mr. Antonides was born April 2, 1921, in Denver. His father was Henry Ralph Antonides and his mother Leana Oakes.
Mrs. Antonides spent his childhood at the Diamond K Ranch, later known as the Highlands Ranch in Littleton and now being developed as Mission Viejo. He attended Dartmouth University and the University of Colorado.
He moved to Glenwood Springs as a young man when his mother and step-father, Frank E. Kistler, moved to the area. Mr. Kistler brought his family to the Roaring Fork Valley, where he purchased the Hot Springs Pool and Hotel Colorado. He also purchased the Osgood property, the Cleavholm Mansion and the Redstone Inn.
Mr. Antonides later built the modern addition to the inn and developed Redstone Acres Subdivision from a portion of the property.
He served in World War II as a fighter pilot in the Italian and African campaigns and in China with the Fighting Tigers. He flew reconnaissance in the Korean War.
For a number of years, Mr. Antonides worked for the Briggs-Kurtz Lumber Co. He later moved to Glenwood Springs and Redstone. He was one of the original members of the Outward Bound School Board of Directors.
In 1945, he married Frances Briggs-Kurtz in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple had two sons, William Hunter Antonides and James Archer Antonides, and a daughter Susan Antonides Berger.
Mr. Antonides is survived by his children and three grandchildren. Services were March 4 at Valley Lawns Crematory in Montrose.
