Alice Irena H. Arbaney, a lifetime resident of Basalt, Colo., died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000 at Glen Valley Nursing Home in Glenwood Springs. She was 85.
Mrs. Arbaney was born Jan. 23, 1915 in Glenwood Springs to Ralph and Alice McCarthy Harris. She spent her childhood on Missouri Heights. On June 16, 1936, she married Laurent Arbaney Jr. in Aspen. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Mrs. Arbaney was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Basalt for many years. She was a loving mother and wife and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Arbaney was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Brent Arbaney, in 1992; and brother, Vincent Harris.
She is survived by her son, Kelvin (Lois) Arbaney, of Battlement Mesa; Brother, Desmond (Margaret) Harris of Glenwood Springs; grandson, Brian Arbaney, of El Jebel; great-granddaughters, Chelsea and Jordan Arbaney; and several nieces and nephews.
A rosary and visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 30 at the Farnum-Holt Chapel in Glenwood Springs at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Basalt. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Basalt. Father Bill Smith will officiate.
