Carl C. Campbell passed away Saturday October 2, 1999 at Palisades Living Center. He was born May 27, 1910 to George W. Donnie Bell Campbell in Cascade, Montana. The family moved to Texas when at the age of 12, he accompanied his father to establish a homestead in Eagle County. The rest of the family followed one year later. Carl attended school in Eagle. He married Mildred Smith in 1927 and they had five sons: Elton, Gene, Cecil (Jack), James, and John. In 1941, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Leonard they had two children, son Gary and daughter, Carla. In 1989 he married Blanche Nelson. Carl spent his working years in the mining industry as a miner, machinist, hoistman and maintenance supervisor. He retired in Grand Junction where he enjoyed gardening, improving his acreage, ]traveling and enjoying his family. Carl is survived by his sister, Edith (Harold) Wells of Fruita; brother, Elton (Mildred) Campbell of Great Falls, Montana; son, Gary of Grand Junction; daughter, Carla (Jim) Klapper of Tonopah, NV; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl will be laid to rest in the Fraser, Colorado cemetery rejoining Betty. His smile and generous nature will be missed by those who knew him.
