Mrs. Cora Carter, 81, died at her Eagle home early the morning of August 25, 1967. Mrs. Carter had been a resident of Eagle for 13 years. Cora Belle Fenno was born in Leadville March 30, 1888 and spent her childhood there. She was married to Joseph T. Carter October 18, 1904 in Leadville. The couple made their home in Edwards, ranching on Squaw Creek. Mr. Carter died in 1952. Farnum Mortuary in Glenwood Springs was in charge of the funeral which was held at the Eagle Methodist Church on Monday August 28. Rev. Don Lagge, son of Mrs. Carter's granddaughter, Sandy, officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Leadville.
The pallbearers were Joe Phillips, Tom Pearch, Jim Seabry, Charlie Terry, John Peterson, and Dan Koprinikar. Mrs. Carter is survived by three daughters: Althea Terry, Portland; Buena Case, Eagle; and Alma Case, Grand Junction. Four sons: Robert of Eagle; Sam, Wolcott; Joseph and Russell, Eagle. A son, Harry, preceded her in death. 32 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.
