Emmett LeRoy Casto, former Minturn railroad man, died in the Salida Hospital Saturday April 25 following an illness of four years. Mr. Casto was born Oct. 27 1893 at Camp Cole, MO to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Casto, one of 8 children. He spent his childhood and received his education at Cole Camp and at the age of 17 he moved to Osawatomie, Kansas, where he was assistant postmaster until he entered the employment of Wells-Fargo Express Co. at Kansas City employed there for 13 years. During this time, he met and married Miss Ollie E. Prawl of Goff, Kansas June 18, 1916. To this union was born four boys, two of whom are deceased. He left the Wells-Fargo Company to join the car department of the Missouri Pacific Railway Company and in 1937 moved to Colorado to be employed by the Denver Rio Grande Railway Co at Grand Junction, Bond, Glenwood and Minturn. Because of failing health he was retired in 1948 and moved o Silt, where he resided during his remaining days. He was united with the methodist Church at Arcadia, Kansas in 1918 and as a hobby enjoyed carpentry and gardening. Mr. Casto is survived by his wife, Ollie of Silt; two sons, Dwitght L. of Portland, OR and Richard W. of Bartlesville, OK, one brother, Walter J. Casto of Bellingham, WA; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Neff and Mrs. Ida Burns of Osawatomie, Kansas and Mrs. R.B. Helms of Kansas City, MO; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Minturn Wednesday April 29. Bowman Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Rev. John Walker of Leadville officiated. Internment was in Riverview Cemetery at Minturn.
