Former Basalt resident Jerry Edward CHASTAIN died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at his residence in Cedaredge, where he had lived since 1993. He was 61. CHASTAIN was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Clemscott, Okla., to Edward Green CHASTAIN and Anna Bell WOOD. He graduated high school in Yuma, Ariz. in 1957. He married Anne Harrison in Basalt on Feb. 19, 1980.
He enjoyed reading, hunting, working on cars, country music, collecting records and was a member of the NRA and a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Aspen. He loved his dog, Kobi.
He is survived by his wife, Anne CHASTAIN of Cedaredge; his mother, Anna Belle CHASTAIN of Yuma, Ariz.; a daughter, Jerri CHASTAIN of Grants Pass, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Ronda DUNN and (John) of San Rafael, Calif., and Raquel HAGEN of Mountain View, Calif.; two sisters, Ginger COUSINS and (Gary), and Judy MANN and (Ron), both of Yuma, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Cherokee ASH of Grants Pass, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delta County Hospice Project, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.
Taylor Funeral Service of Delta was in charge of arrangements.
