William George Ash, 64, died Sept. 4 in Longboat Key, Fla., with his family by his side.
Ash, an avid handball player and golfer, spent part of each year at his home in Cordillera and the remainder of the year in Longboat Key.
Ash was born on March 7, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo. He met his wife of 41 years, Fredda, while attending the University of Missouri at Columbia.
He later founded a pharmaceutical manufacturing company, Reliable Biopharmaceutical Corporation. He considered the employees of Reliable to be his extended family, Ash's son Dana said.
"He will be remembered as a great friend to many," Dana Ash said. "It is difficult to imagine that anyone who met him could forget him. His many friends will remember his engaging and dynamic personality, his dedication to his friends, his often entertaining and admirable lack of patience, and his constant readiness to share a joke."
William Ash is survived his wife, Fredda; son Brent and his wife, Wendi; son Dana and his wife, Melissa; daughter Marni and her husband, Trent; brother Arthur and his wife, Sarah; aunts Anna and Sylvia; grandchildren Caitlin, Megan and Caleb William; and his puppy, Bailey.
Services are being held today in at Forever Bellerive in Creve Coeur, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johns Hopkins - The Ash Family Fund, c/o Department of Neurosurgery, 100 North Charles St., Suite 414, Baltimore, MD, 21201.
