HERBERT DING DIED IN GRAND JUNCTION

Herbert Ding, Edwards man, died in the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction Sunday of cancer. Mr. Ding had been a patient in the hospital since December 18. Burial was in Kansas. Mr. Ding is survived by his wife, Thelma, a son, Dennis, 9; and a daughter, Jeanine, 3. The family moved to Eagle County from Eastern Colorado about 2 years ago when they bought the Edwards store, which Mrs. Ding operated.

Herbert Ding was born in Hebron, N.D. to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ding, December 25, 1917 and died in Grand Junction, Colorado Jan. 18, 1959 at the age of 42. He received his education in the Hebron public schools and served during World War II as a staff sergeant in the Air Force. On September 24, 1945, Mr. Ding and Miss Thelma Fehr were married at Great Bend, Kans. In 1946, the couple moved to Englewood, CO and in July 1957 came to western Colorado where they bought the country store at Edwards in Eagle County. Mr. Ding became ill last December and entered the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction where it was discovered he had cancer.

Funeral services were held at Roberts, Blue, Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia, KS and burial was at the Memorial Law, Emporia. Mr. Ding is survived by his wife and two children, Dennis, 9, and Jeanine, 3. His parents preceded him in death.

Mrs. Ding plans to remain at Edwards where she is postmaster and operates the store.
