FRANK DOLL KILLED IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT ON VAIL PASS: Prominent Gypsum Rancher Dies On Return from Hunting Trip. Frank DOLL, prominent Gypsum rancher, was killed Tuesday when his car skidded off the Vail Pass highway and rolled 30 feet down an embankment. The accident is presumed to have occurred sometime before noon Tuesday, and word was brought into Eagle at noon by a bus driver who stated that a highway maintenance crew had discovered the skid tracks and investigated to find the car and the body of Mr. DOLL.
Mr. DOLL was on his return home from a pheasant hunting trip in Kansas. Local authorities stated that the road was very slippery, and in all probability the accident was due to the condition of the road. The accident took place in Eagle county, 15 miles east of the Junction of highways 6 and 24.
Mr. DOLL, the son of a pioneer county family, grew to young manhood in Gypsum, and has long been prominent in the life of the county. He followed the footsteps of his father, Frank DOLL, Sr., and was one of the leading stockmen of the Gypsum Valley, engaged in ranching and stock raising with his two sons.
Surviving are the widow, Helen; two sons, Morton and Frank and a grandson; and his sister, Dorothy Doll GERARD all of Gypsum.
Funeral services were held in Gypsum Thursday afternoon in American Legion Post 150. Mr. DOLL had been a leading member of the Legion since its organization.
