Mary Ann Franco died Dec. 26, 2007, at her home in Mack shortly after returning from having spent Christmas with her family in Hayden. She was 63.
Mary Ann was born Dec. 7, 1944, in Gilman, the daughter of Jose O. and Maria Lucy (Fresquez) Archuleta. She spent her childhood in Leadville and Hayden. Mary Ann graduated from Hayden High School.
She married Frank E. Franco on Nov. 16, 1972, in Rawlins, Wyo. They lived in Hayden, and Mary Ann worked as a waitress. Later in life, Mary Ann and Frank adopted the joy of their life - a son, Cody. She enjoyed reading and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Craig and the United Mine Workers Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Frank Franco of Mack; her son Cody Franco of Mack; sisters Sally, Lucy and Vickie Archuleta of Hayden, Sylvia and her husband Jeff Johnston of Hayden, and Bernardine Faricy of Grand Junction; brothers Joe and his wife Pita Archuleta of Craig, Ernest and his wife Linda Archuleta of Hayden, George and his wife Letha Archuleta of Hayden, Salome and his wife Cindy Archuleta of Elko, Nev., and Pat Archuleta of Fruita.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lucy Archuleta; and her brothers Bobby, Orlando and Fidel.
The Rosary was recited Jan. 2, 2008, at St. Michael Catholic Church, and Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 3, 2008, at the church with Fr. James Fox officiating. The soloist was Celeste Sanchez, who was accompanied on the organ by Elaine DeuPree. Special selections were "One Day At A Time" and "The Little Brown Church." Pallbearers were Bobby Ruiz, Floyd Gutierrez, Jim Brazelton, Pat Herrera, Jim Woodward and Brent Salazar. Honorary pallbearers were Nathaniel, Joey, Raymond, Curlin and Levi Archuleta and John David Liveoak. Interment followed in the Hayden Cemetery.
