Steamboat Today - August 12, 2007

Former Hayden resident Nickolaus Goossens left us suddenly on Aug. 3, 2007, to be with the Lord, but his memory will always remain strong in our hearts. He was 18.
He was born March 16, 1989. Nick recently graduated from Palisade High School with honors on May 15, 2007, and was set to attend Mesa State College on Aug. 20, 2007.
Nick was known for his great sense of humor and sense of fashion. He loved the outdoors and hanging out with his family and friends. He, like his mother and sisters, had a heart of gold for the developmentally disabled. He will be missed not only by his family and friends, but by so many of the clients with whom he worked.
Nick was preceded in death by his uncle, Richard Goossens on Sept. 24, 2004, and will be laid to rest near him in Hayden.
He is survived by his mother, Vicki Lucero; fathers Rick Lucero and Richard Tyser; sisters, Erin and her husband, Travis Moratto, and Kaeliegh Boyer; nephews Adrian and Mike Moratto; his precious niece, Anna Moratto; and his beloved dog, Dillon.
A celebration of life was held at 10 a.m. Aug. 8, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Palisade with Pastor T.J. Dickerson officiating. Internment took place at 4 p.m. Aug. 8, 2007, at Hayden Cemetery. All friends were welcome and their attendance completed this very special yet sorrowful gathering.
Memorial contributions may be made in Nick's honor to Indian Peaks Rottweiler Rescue at P.O. Box 17100, Boulder, CO 80308.
Cremation arrangements and services are under the care and direction of Martin Mortuary.
