Dale F Grant, who served as an Eagle County commissioner during one of the valley's strongest periods of growth and economic expansion from 1975 to 1982 died Friday Feb. 18 at Aspen Valley Hospital. He was 81. A Basalt resident for the past 50 years, Grant was born November 15, 1912 to Earl H. and Hazel (English) Grant in Grand Junction. He attended schools in Grand Junction and Basalt. He married Aloha M. Bogue on September 8, 1932 in Glenwood Springs and had two children, Raymond and Virginia. The couple then lived in Grand Junction where Dale worked in the construction industry. During World war II He helped construct runways in the Galapagos Islands and later served in the US Marine Corps, 1941-1944. He owned and operated several businesses in the Basalt and Aspen area, including Grant and Company Plumbing and Heating in Aspen. He is survived by his wife, Aloha, and his son and daughter-in-law Ray and Lennie of Littleton; his daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Lowell Bair of Basalt; brother Edward Grant of Gonvick, Minn. Funeral services were held Feb 22 in Glenwood Springs. Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery in Basalt. Farnum-Holt Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
