Daniel Robert Harris, 46, of Gypsum died Sunday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction after a long, fierce battle with blastomycosis.
Harris was born on April 11, 1960, in Duluth, Minn., the son of Donald R. Harris and Marie (Pontliana) Harris. He was raised and educated in Duluth. He moved to Louisiana and then arrived in the Vail Valley in 1984, where he was the owner and operator of Kustom Kraft Tile.
In 1995, he married Leigh Brinckerhoff on the beach in Puerto Vallarta. Mexico.
Danny lived an extraordinary life and touched many people, family members and friends said.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved to travel and explore, and was a devoted and adored father, husband, son, brother and friend, family members and friends said.
Danny is survived by his wife, Leigh, and son, Eli, both of Gypsum; father and stepmother, Donald and Marion (Sally) Harris of Bemidji, Minn.; sisters and brothers-in-law Debbie and Dennis Vogt of Dallas, and Diane and Jack Lindelof of Phoenix; sister Donna Falterman of Phoenix; nephews Andy Anderson, Jonathan Cowan and nieces Jennifer Schmidt, Desiree Falterman, Danielle Falterman and Anik Brinckerhoff.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., July 14 at the United Methodist Church of Eagle, with Pastor Pete Meese officiating. A celebration of his life will take place following the service at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle.
Memorials may be given to The Vail Valley Home Health and Mountain Hospice or The St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
