Eva Madelyn Harris

1919-2006

Eva Madelyn Harris, 87, was born in Cardin, Okla. to McFarland and Opal (Palmer) Beaver on Aug. 17, 1919. She was the oldest of 10 children.

She passed away at her home in Eagle, Colo. on Oct. 3. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eagle Valley and had been a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

She married William E. Harris Jr. on Aug. 2, 1939 in Glenwood Springs, Colo. He died in 1969. Eva had been an area resident for 71 years.

She is survived by her two sons, William E. Harris and wife, Sandy, and John T. (Tom) Harris and wife Bev; three daughters, Carol A. Daugherty and husband John, Rose Marie Farrell and husband Tom, and Kathy Jo Wellinghurst. Survivors also include two brothers, Donald Starr, and Ralph Starr; a sister, Pauline Foral; 14 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, one son-in-law, five sisters, one brother and her parents.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, at the Farnum Holt Funeral Home Chapel, 405 W. 7th St., Glenwood Springs, Colo. at 2 p.m., followed by burial at the Sunset Cemetery in Eagle.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Eva’s name to the Vail Valley Home Health and Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 40,000 Vail, Colo. 81658.
