SHIRLEY JODRIE KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT

Shirley Jodrie, 44, father of two boys, was killed instantly when his car rolled down Maloney Hill along the Colorado River, 11 miles north cf Dotsero Friday night. Riding with Mr. Jodrie were his sons, John 7, and Kent 5, who escaped with minor injuries. Tlve three had visited the Duane Skiff home at Range and were headed home, going south on the river road. Going upgrade on Maloney Hill, the car cut into the left bank, crossed rigdut, and rolled over the bank. The car turned over six times as it plunged 200 feet to the railroad track below the read. Mr. Jodrie was thrown from the car, and pinned beneath it- He was killed instantly. The two little boys escaped with cuts and abrasions. The Skiffs, who were a few minutes behind the Jodrie car, were first at the scene of the accident. Mr. Jodrie was bom in Conway, N. H., Feb. 22, 1917 to Simeon and Elizabeth Jodrie. He attended

school in Conway. He was instructor at the Hanneschneider Ski School at North Conway before serving with the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale near Red Cliff. In 1943 Mr. Jodrie married Miss Joanne Savage of Grand Junction and after the war they returned to New Hampshire, where he resumed his work at the ski school. Mr. Jodrie’s war record included service at Kiska and in Italy. In 1950 the couple went to Baker, Ore., where they worked with Bill Deems. They later returned to Eagle County, and in partnership with Mrs- Jodrie's brother, Mac Savage, bought the 7\V Ranch in the Sweetwater country, from Mrs. Jodrie’s and Mr. Savage’s parents, Mr and Mrs Lee Savage of Grand Junction.
